We were delighted to welcome elected members from Wirral Council on Wednesday evening to The Hive to see first-hand how their investment in our new state-of-the-art facility will support the lives of thousands of young people from right across the borough once we open on 8th April.
With the building now virtually complete, bar a few final interior elements set to be fitted, the Council were given the chance to preview the facility to see what will be on offer when the facility opens. Without the Council’s support this project would simply not have been possible. Their unwavering commitment to help young people in Wirral has not gone unnoticed and we are excited to continue the partnership once the Youth Zone has opened its doors.
Councillor Jean Stapleton of Wirral Council said: “The Hive will offer a safe and inclusive environment for Wirral’s young people in an exciting, purpose-built facility. Anti-social behaviour is a big issue at the moment, so providing services that improve young people’s lives and divert them away from getting into trouble in their local communities is our priority. The Hive will give young people the chance to try new sports, dance and arts, and support them to gain new skills and find employment.”
Volunteers will be crucial in the pre-opening phase. The Hive needs to recruit 100 dedicated members of the community to make sure they deliver the best service for Wirral’s young people. They recently recruited their first batch of volunteers, but they now want YOU to join them too. If you have a passion for working with young people or simply want to give a little back by helping out in an admin or kitchen role for example, The Hive want to hear from you. Wirral Youth Zone will offer a multitude of activities and services will help raise the aspirations, improve the health and well-being and enhance the prospects of an anticipated membership of over 3,000 young people across Wirral.
Wirral Youth Zone is an independent charity which will operate to the successful OnSide Youth Zones model.
